After quite a successful Radeon RX 400 Series graphics card based on Polaris, AMD's Radeon Technologies Group (RTG) division still feels dissatisfied with what graphics card-based Radeon RX 400 Series can do. To improve the performance of the Radeon RX 400 Series, RTG "optimizes" the Polaris architecture to offer better performance than the Radeon RX 400 Series. And RTG successfully optimize their Polaris architecture and immerse it in their new line, named Radeon RX 500 Series and set the Radeon RX 580 to its flagship series.
Graphic card Radeon RX 580 is a successor graphic card from Radeon RX 480. As the successor of course, the target segment will be similar, which is more intended for you who want to play games with high detail in Full-HD resolution. In addition, AMD also offers premium performance on Virtual-Reality (VR) better through this Radeon RX 580. Interestingly, by offering all these things, AMD put this graphic card which is in the range of US $ 199 for variants 4GB to US $ 229 for the 8GB variant.
And at the same time with the launch time of this graphic card we had the opportunity to show the performance of this latest graphics card AMD to you all. Want to know the performance of Polaris based graphics card "Enhanced" from AMD? Check out our full review below! Incidentally, the sample unit of the Radeon RX 580 8GB is a noncommercial Powercolor blend unit, the Powercolor Red Devil RX 580 8GB Golden Sample.
AMD Radeon RX 580 comes with a GPU based on Polaris 10 that is the same as the Radeon RX 480 but has been through the process of "optimizing" the fabrication of 14 nm Finfet. Coming with a GPU similar to the RX 480, the GPU on the RX 580 certainly has a GCN Gen 4 architecture with the same specification, which is 36 Compute Units with a total of 2306 Stream Processors. And it can be ascertained the size of the die is also the same as that used RX 480, which is at 232 mm² thanks to the use of 14 nm FinFet fabrication process. The striking difference of GPU Polaris 10 on RX 480 and RX 580 is on its GPU clock. Thanks to the "Refined" process, the Polaris 10 GPU can run with Base Clock at 1257 MHz with Boost Clock reaching 1340 MHz. Switching to the memory of this graphic card, RX 580 is also equipped with 8 GB of GDDR5 memory with the same speed with memory on Radeon RX 480, which is 8000 MHz.
Coming with GCN Gen 4 or Polaris GPUs, this graphics card comes with the same features as the Radeon RX 400 Series as the output offered and also provides enhancements to technology that was once AMD stretcher like Asynchronous compute better on graphics card based This Polaris. For those of you who want to know about the architecture, technology and features carried by AMD Polaris maybe you can listen to the article on the following link:
And the launch of this RX 500 Series, Radeon also presents a feature called Radeon Chill. This feature is a Power Efficiency feature, where it will optimize in-game performance and power consumption of the AMD Radeon graphics card you use. To enable it, you just have to enter the Wattman setting in the Global Setting menu. But unfortunately not all games support this feature.
Incidentally, the sample unit of the Radeon RX 580 8GB is a noncommercial Powercolor blend unit, the Powercolor Red Devil RX 580 8GB Golden Sample. Coming from the line of Red Devil, of course, this graphics card comes with a higher specification than the set AMD Radeon for its Radeon RX 580. Interestingly, this graphic card has two usage modes, Silent mode and OC mode, both of which offer different clock speed settings.
In Silent mode, the GPU on Powercolor's graphic card blend runs at 1411 MHz. As Silent mode of course this mode offers a more silent performance. For that, in this mode Powercolor set the fan speed setting at 1500 rpm when full load or only 43% of the maximum ability of the fan. For its memory setting, Powercolor left it at 2000 MHz.
in OC mode, the GPU on Powercolor's concoction graphics card runs at 1425 MHz. As an OC mode of course this mode offers a more aggressive performance and certainly require a more optimal cooling system. For that, in this mode Powercolor set the fan speed setting at 1907 rpm when full load or only 55% of the maximum ability of the fan. For the memory setting, Powercolor left it at 2000 MHz.
As one of AMD's main partners, Powercolor also presents packaging that also looks premium, thick with black shades. At the front there is a Red Devil branding that shows the graphics card in it comes from the Red Devil Series. Turning to the back, you will find some technical information from this graphic card,
